Since 2015, Wolfs Company has collaborated with the Department of Environment and Coastal Resources (DECR) of the Turks and Caicos Islands in a series of projects to promote financial sustainability for marine protected area management and coral reef conservation. An extended interactive summary of this collaboration is now publicly available on the ‘PANORAMA -Solutions for a Healthy Planet’ platform for conservation practitioners from around the world to get inspiration for their own sustainable financing strategies.
This solution builds upon the following projects implemented by Wolfs Company:
- Capacity building and increased financing for monitoring programmes for coral reefs in the Turks and Caicos Islands, implemented with a Small Swift Grant of the BEST 2.0 Programme, funded by the European Commission (read more here).
- Sustainable financing based on the tourism value of nature in the Turks and Caicos Islands (read more here) and subsequent marine park financing advice through the MPAConnect network (read more here), both implemented with support and funding from the Gulf and Caribbean Fisheries Institute (GCFI) in partnership with the Coral Reef Conservation Program of the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (CRCP-NOAA).
